![]() ![]() I played Quake when I was young I was horrible at it, but I still had fun - at that time, anything fast moving was probably fun to me. People who don't enjoy playing with the several hits to a kill play hardcore maps. That's why it has been picked up by so many people, not because it's 'catering to the skilless masses'.Also, 'arena' shooters can still do well, just look at team fortress 2 and tribes: ascend.Īnd on the rare occasion that some of my friends who have never played want to play with my good friends, but they don't want to get totally roflstomped every round, can turn them on and the new friends will stand the smallest chance and might get a kill and maybe not quit as fast, unlike what happens to them in LOL, CS:S and pretty much every other skill based game.EDIT: It's like hardcore mode in any of the more recent COD games. Nexuiz is a big shiny game with relatively much marketing. The big issue here is that xonotic is a small game with practically no marketing. It's altogether a different game, not one I like, but ones that others like.Sorry if this is a bit rambling and incomprehensible, I wrote this at around 1AM after a few matches of Nexuiz. This makes maps smaller, but the maps already had to be smaller to accommodate for the missing laser, which results in pretty damn small maps. Many of the weapons were also either tweaked or completely reworked, mostly giving the game a more sort of 'casual' feel, which doesn't draw from the same demographic as Xonotic does, despite them branching from the same game. This lowers the entry level and general skill ceiling, as any player can get an automatic Strength, infinite ammo, or invincibility, which boils down to simple luck of the draw.Nexuiz matches are strictly 4v4.
